Autochthonous National Festival of Gaitas of San Jacinto
The San Jacinto National Gaitas Festival has been taking place since 1988, as a sample of riches that involve the tri-ethnic diversity of our country. This, without a doubt, has involved the constant management of organized civil society.
The Festival has been led by "Corporación Folclórica y Artesanal de San Jacinto", a civil society organization made up of 25 cultural managers who have been dedicated since 1999 to promoting and disseminating the festival throughout Colombia.

The history of the Festival has its antecedents in pre-Columbian times, the territories where sheep are today, it was the focus of expansion of the Zenú tribe, who made and performed the Gaita or chuana, a fact corroborated by the discovery of the golden figure ”Tumbaga ”Between the Vilu and Almagra hills (1989).
In the 80's the exponents of this musical genre were dying anonymously and taking this knowledge with them, it was then that a whole rescue movement was conceived from Ovejas, which led to the holding of the 1st National Gaitas Festival in 1985.

The Cultural Relief Committee has managed to consolidate one of the events of greatest folk significance in Cartagena: the Gaitas Festival.
It has been 32 years of formative persistence in the heart of the community in Cartagena de Indias.
